I Love to Read Party

We kicked off our afternoon celebration by visiting the doors around our school with our K buddies. Each class created a door around a favorite book. We headed back to our classroom for some treats and reading time. It was such a fun reading party. A great way to wrap up I Lovs to Read month.

RAMS play Field trip

We had a great time at the middle school play. There were so many Brimhall kids in both the cast and crew. It was fun for the students to see what they can so in middle school drama.

Bridges

Students continued today to destroy their bridges.

Writing from a photograph

Today we worked on writing a story from our imagination using a photograph. We all used the same picture to create a story just like the author Lois Lowry does when writing. Using a picture can help us imagine a story.

Blogging about being a Voyageur

Students learned how to make blogs with Ms.Zbacnik in library. They are busy using the Chrome books to create their own voyageur diary.

Bridge destruction in science

These groups were ready to put the bridges to the test today. How much weight would each hold? The goal was to build a bridge that would support at least one math book. One group today had a bridge that held more than 11 math books. Wow!

Power reading

This week we started our power reading. From 10:30 until 11:10 each day students are working with TA's , one of the classroom teachers or with guided assignments. 

Sports Poetry

In literacy we have been learning about the power of carefully chosen words. We have focused on sports poems and how to use descriptive language to make the images come to life. Each student choose a sport and created a poem around that sport. They are displayed in the hall outside our classroom.
